As the Libyans celebrate the end of 42 years of repressive government, may they find national healing and reconciliation through coming to know Jesus Christ, who personifies healing and peace. The six-month struggle to oust the former dictator culminated at the end of August. Though pockets of Libyans who remain loyal to the old regime continue to oppose the new government, the nation now turns to determining who will lead and by what means. Please pray that Islam is not given an authority within the government structure that will permit the suppression of the Truth. Pray that the Lord help the Libyans in their day of salvation (Isaiah 49:8).
Saturday, July 9, 2011 marked the birth of the new nation of South Sudan. May peace between the new country and the nation from which it gained independence, Sudan, continue to hold.Though the new nation is one of the poorest and underdeveloped countries in the world, pray that it becomes a beacon of Christ in the region. South Sudan has a large population that identifies with Christianity, while Sudan is largely Arabic and Muslim. As the new nation gains footing through developing and trading its natural resources, may God use it as a testimony to His glory, encouraging its northern neighbors to examine the goodness of the Jesus.
After the murder of a new follower of Christ in Lebanon, three men have stepped forward to lead the Church Planting Movement in that land. Frontiers' worker, “Chris Preston” reports that the men have introduced him to six groups of new believers, who are meeting regularly to study the New Testament. The groups, consisting of women, men, university students and laborers, are in various stages of discipleship and hungry for greater knowledge of Jesus.
“Michael” and “Doreen Fraser” will return to the United States for an undetermined period of time. The Frasers will be leaving their home in the Balkans where they have lived for six years among Muslims. Because Doreen’s mother’s health has taken a turn for the worse, they are taking leave from their Frontiers’ commitment to help her family care for the terminally-ill parent. Please pray that the Frasers are able to entrust local believers to continue the work (church-planting and a software business) that has been established. Please also pray that Doreen will be able to enjoy the time spent with her mother and greater family as they share the trials of the illness.
Pray for the “Roberts” family, donors to Frontiers for several years. The family from Dayton, Ohio has faithfully supported three family units of overseas laborers ministering to Muslims. Recently, however, “Linda” has been diagnosed as having breast cancer. Please pray that the promise of Jesus brings the family strength, hope and joy in the midst of this trial. We pray for healing through doctors or from a touch from the Almighty. We pray that the family sees the faithfulness of God in hundredfold proportion to what they have extended over the years in support of His kingdom.
