Comprehensive Strategy to Assist Pakistan Flood Victims

"Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no-one to help. " Psalm 22:11

White water rushes past what remains of the dwelling that once housed a Pakistani family of five. The scene of the homeowner gazing upon the structure, now resting on an island amid flood waters, only serves as a hint of the level of destruction that has descended on the country as the result of August rains in this Muslim country.

Throughout Pakistan, devastation from flooding is disrupting all phases of life. The loss of human life, crops, livestock and property has made this disaster more catastrophic than the combined suffering of the nation’s earthquake in 2007 and tsunami in 2005. Over 16 million people are dependent upon aid that, in large part, has been underwhelming.

2010 Flood Destroyed Home
With over 16 million people depending upon aid, Pakistan must deal with housing, food and economic devastation.

Due to a generous response by Frontiers financial partners, food, shelter and medical assistance has been given to hundreds of families in the most remote areas of the country. Those gifts have also enabled the hope of Jesus Christ to be displayed to a population that has very little hope.

As the cameras turn away from this disaster to focus on newer stories, Frontiers will remain steadfast in its efforts to bring the gospel message to the people of Pakistan. Through a comprehensive plan, Frontiers will meet the spiritual, material and economic challenges of Muslims enduring this tragedy.

In the coming months, Frontiers will introduce The Jesus Film into flood-ravaged areas. Bible-based literature, cassette tapes and cassette players will also be distributed as a means of bringing spiritual relief to previously unengaged people groups. These materials will be produced in the native dialects of the flood victims.

Frontiers’ teams will also introduce material relief for the people of Pakistan. By partnering with Muslim-background believers in Christ, we will be able to offer housing, building materials and technical building support to areas of the country in which Western-based aid agencies are routinely shunned.

Finally, Frontiers will offer economic relief in the country through rebuilding enterprises that we supported prior to the flood. Plans also include assistance to the workers of these companies to help them rebuild their homes and feed their families during the recovery period. Additionally, Frontiers will support new companies in Pakistan, building an economic base for the country substantially more robust than what existed before the flood.

Destroyed Pakistani Bridge
Your generous donation will help the Muslim nation of Pakistan see the love of Christ as Frontiers partnerships will help restore vital infrastructure to the country.

If the Lord is leading you to be part of these efforts through a gift, please click this link. We are thankful for all donations that have been given for our initial response. And though the task ahead is daunting, we are excited for how God will use Frontiers and our friends to be a part of the great work of bringing the message of Jesus as Lord and Savior to Pakistan.
