MAKING ENDS MEET

FishMarket“Please tell me how much the rate of exchange has changed over the last six months—for U.S. to Egyptian currency.  I am committed to support for ‘Jim and Sue West’ and desire to keep up with the decrease in value of monies sent.”

This gracious partner was viewing the dollar’s falling value overseas through “Kingdom eyes.”

The severity of the impact on overseas workers was the focus of an article published in the January, 2008 issue  of Christianity Today “The dollar’s fall has squeezed missionary budgets with no reprieve in sight.”

Here’s what one Frontiers’ worker experienced during her first year-and-a-half on the field …

“The cost of vegetable oil has doubled.  Meat, flour and milk have all increased in price.  Rent prices are also going up everywhere here.”  In her country of service, the price of a loaf of bread increased 62% in just 18 months!

A Frontiers’ family recently wrote …

“While we have never gone hungry, over this past year, due to changes in their personal income and in one case, passing on to glory, we have seen two very significant partners leave our financial support team.

“Admittedly, as we consider the years ahead … we recognize our need to be more proactive with regard to financial planning.  Pray that we can continue to trust God to provide for all our needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus.”

An “Underfunded Members” program has been established to help these workers stay on the field through the global economic downturn.

If God is speaking to your heart about these needs and has blessed you with the resources to make a supplemental gift for Frontiers workers struggling to cover their rising expenses, your contribution now would be a great encouragement.
